Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEND Teachers to work with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas.

This permanent, full-time role is ideal for qualified teachers who enjoy working with pupils with a range of SEND needs and are confident delivering high-quality teaching across multiple classes. You will take responsibility for planning, delivering, and assessing learning, supporting pupils to access the curriculum, and ensuring their progress and development.

Role details

  • Salary: £34,822 – £51,047 per year + SEND allowance
  • Start date: September 2026
  • Contract: Permanent, full-time, term-time only

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering lessons to pupils with a variety of SEND needs across multiple classes
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to meet individual learning and developmental needs
  • Implementing EHCP targets, individual support plans, and behaviour support strategies
  • Supporting pupils’ communication, engagement, social skills, and emotional regulation
  • Leading interventions and adapting teaching to meet pupils’ abilities and needs
  • Supervising pupils during transitions, break times, and unstructured parts of the school day
  • Ensuring pupils are fully included in all learning activities and school life
  • Maintaining classroom management and a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Collaborating closely with teaching assistants, SENCo, therapists, and other staff to ensure consistent provision

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) (essential)
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Are confident teaching pupils across multiple classes or year groups
  • Have a subject specialisation (highly desired)
  • Are calm, resilient, and adaptable
  • Have strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills
  • Are passionate about helping pupils with SEND reach their potential
