Teaching Personnel is looking for an ambitious and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to help support several of our SEN Clients within the Solihull area B90.

About this role:

We are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and deliver personalised support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), and Processing or Learning Difficulties (LD). Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, you will help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop key skills. You will play an important role in fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to pupils' individual needs.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure they are accessible, engaging, and appropriately differentiated.
  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans to promote consistent progress.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behaviour, using positive and proactive approaches.
  • Use specialist tools and methods such as visual supports, sensory resources, and alternative communication systems.
  • Monitor, record, and report pupil progress, sharing observations with teachers and the SENCO to inform planning.
  • Help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and wellbeing.
  • Assist pupils during transitions, break times, and off-site activities to ensure safety and continuity of support.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in every learner, celebrating achievements and promoting self-esteem.
