We are seeking a knowledgeable and committed Resource Base Teacher to lead a small specialist provision within a fully inclusive mainstream primary school. This is a key role at a time of significant national SEND reform. The successful candidate will help shape high-quality provision aligned with the government’s “Every Child Achieving and Thriving” Schools White Paper, ensuring pupils receive effective, inclusive support.
You will work with pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g. autism, speech and language needs, SEMH), supporting access to a broad, ambitious curriculum and facilitating integration into mainstream learning where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver personalised, high-quality teaching within the resource base
- Develop and implement IEPs, ISPs, and EHCP provision in line with current expectations
- Work with class teachers to promote inclusive practice and integration
- Lead and manage support staff
- Monitor progress and adapt provision using evidence-based approaches
- Liaise with families, the SENCO, and external professionals
- Contribute to the school’s Inclusion Strategy and SEND development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- QTS and experience supporting SEND in a primary setting
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching
- Up-to-date knowledge of SEND White Paper reforms
- Ability to translate policy into effective practice
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- A flexible, reflective, child-centred approach
