As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities may include
- Supporting pupils with Autism and Complex Needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Helping students engage in classroom activities and follow individual learning plans.
- Using communication strategies such as visual aids, PECS, Makaton or other alternative communication methods.
- Supporting sensory, emotional and behavioural needs in a calm and positive manner.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development.
- Assisting with personal care where required.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapy teams to provide the best outcomes for pupils.
- Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
You will ideally have
- Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults with additional needs.
- A patient, caring and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- An understanding of Autism and Complex Needs.
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
