We are currently recruiting SEN Support Assistants to work within a welcoming and inclusive school in Skelmersdale from September. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced support staff as well as individuals looking to begin a rewarding career in education.

The Role

As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting children with varying SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence
  • Helping to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (preferred but not essential)
  • Are patient, caring, and enthusiastic
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are committed to supporting children with additional needs
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training in education/support work (desirable)
