A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale (WN8) is seeking to appoint a Key Stage 2 Class Teacher and a Key Stage 1 Class Teacher —one full-time and one part-time — to join their team from February 2026. These fixed-term positions are for the remainder of the academic year (with the potential to become permanent) and offer a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a supportive school community.

About the Role:

You will take full responsibility for teaching a Key Stage 2 class (Year 4 or Year 5, depending on school needs) or a Key Stage 1 class (Year 1) delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the national curriculum. The successful candidates will be supported by a dedicated team of teaching assistants, subject leads, and senior staff who are committed to promoting high standards and pupil wellbeing. You will be expected to plan, assess, and deliver high-quality learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and EAL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across all areas of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress in line with school and national expectations
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and development
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and support staff to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including parent engagement, enrichment activities, and school events
  • Uphold the school's safeguarding and child protection policies

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent experience teaching within a UK primary school
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum, assessment frameworks, and phonics
  • A nurturing and adaptable approach to behaviour management and pastoral care
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s academic and personal development
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils
