We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Early Years team in Sidmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood development and making a real difference to young learners’ lives.
The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning within the Early Years setting. Working closely with the class teacher and EYFS team, you will help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting learning activities across the EYFS curriculum, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
- Helping to deliver engaging, creative activities that support children’s learning and development
- Providing targeted support for pupils with SEND and those from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Observing, assessing, and contributing to records of children’s progress
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and independence
- Working collaboratively with teachers, EYFS colleagues, and support staff to ensure continuity of learning
- Building positive relationships with parents and carers and contributing to feedback on pupil progress
- Supporting safeguarding procedures and maintaining a safe learning environment

- Has experience working as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS
- Has a strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
- Is confident supporting behaviour, engagement, and learning in a busy classroom
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Is nurturing, patient, and committed to inclusion and pupil wellbeing
- Works well as part of a team and shows initiative
- Holds an enhanced, up-to-date DBS (or is willing to obtain one)
- Has a strong awareness of safeguarding and child protection
