Teaching Personnel is recruiting experienced Classroom Assistants to provide ad hoc cover across several SEN and SEMH schools and specialist provisions in the Sherborne area. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy variety in their work and are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. With a number of settings available, no two days are the same and there are plenty of opportunities to broaden your experience within specialist education.
As a Supply Classroom Assistant, you will step into schools when additional support is required and provide immediate assistance to both staff and pupils. Due to the nature of these roles, we are seeking candidates who can confidently hit the ground running.
Responsibilities- Supporting pupils with learning activities and classroom routines.
- Working with children who have SEN and SEMH needs.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
- Assisting with emotional regulation and social development.
- Helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support teams.
- Previous experience within education, care or specialist settings.
- A sound understanding of additional needs and behaviour support.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patience, resilience and adaptability.
- Confidence in working within a range of educational environments.
