Teaching Personnel is seeking experienced High Level Teaching Assistants to support a range of SEN and SEMH schools and specialist provisions across the Shaftesbury area. This is an excellent opportunity for confident and capable education professionals who are looking for flexible work and enjoy supporting pupils in a variety of settings. As we work with multiple provisions locally, there are numerous opportunities available to broaden your experience and develop your skills. This is an ad hoc supply role covering staff absence and additional support requirements. We are specifically looking for experienced professionals who can quickly integrate into a new environment and make an immediate impact.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering interventions and leading small group sessions.
  • Supporting teaching and learning activities across the classroom.
  • Covering lessons when required.
  • Assisting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Supporting behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with teachers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Promoting engagement, confidence and independence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as an HLTA, Teaching Assistant or within a specialist educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and SEMH provisions.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • A professional, flexible and resilient approach.

These opportunities are due to commence in September 2026, with the possibility of starting earlier for the right candidates. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
