1:1 SEN Tutor – Shaftesbury

TP Tutors is actively recruiting SEN Tutors in Shaftesbury to deliver 1:1 face‑to‑face tuition to young people currently outside of mainstream education.
This is more than a tutoring role – this is your chance to help students rebuild confidence, overcome barriers, and re‑engage with learning through delivering bespoke and targeted tuition.
About the Role
As a tutor, you will support learners with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, anxiety and school avoidance, using a personalised, patient, and creative approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in homes or community settings.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with learners.
- Adapt lessons to suit individual needs and learning styles.
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
- Help students re‑engage with education and achieve realistic goals.
- Track progress and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including teachers, ex‑teachers, SLD/MLD teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, SENCO, SEN professionals, youth workers, mentors, and intervention specialists.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 1 year experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable).
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to adapt your teaching style to individual needs.
- Access to transport or willingness to travel locally.
- Additional Requirements
- The right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Two years of recent, verifiable professional references.
