SENDCo – Specialist SEMH School Location: Stoke-on-Trent Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience Start Date: ASAP / Negotiable Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent Working Pattern: Full-Time Are you a qualified SENDCo looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence outcomes, shape provision and be part of a specialist team making a difference every day? Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with an independent specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated SENDCo to join their experienced and supportive staff team. This is a unique opportunity to work within a specialist setting supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a highly personalised approach to education, small class sizes and a strong focus on helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. SEMH settings require specialist approaches to behaviour, emotional regulation, attachment and trauma-informed practice. The successful candidate will initially join on a temporary basis with a clear pathway to a permanent position for the right person. The role: Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school Manage and oversee EHCPs, annual reviews and statutory processes Work closely with teaching, pastoral and leadership teams to ensure pupils receive the support they need Liaise with families, local authorities and external professionals Support staff with effective SEND strategies and interventions Monitor provision, progress and outcomes for pupils with additional needs Contribute to the continued development of SEND provision across the school We are looking for: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) SENDCo qualification (or working towards completion where applicable) Strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills A proactive and solution-focused approach Applications are particularly welcome from: Experienced SENDCos seeking a new challenge within a specialist setting SEND leaders looking to take the next step in their career Qualified teachers who hold the SENDCo qualification and are looking to move into a SEND leadership role What the school offers: A specialist SEMH environment where relationships come first An experienced and supportive staff team Opportunities to influence and develop provision Ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities A clear pathway to a permanent contract The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable young people If you are passionate about SEND, inclusion and helping young people thrive, we would love to hear from you.
