We are excited to be recruiting passionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Wirral. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential academically and personally.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to students with a variety of SEND needs, including those displaying challenging behaviours. You’ll work both 1:1 and in small groups, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.

This is a full-time, temporary role until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate. It’s an excellent chance to develop your skills and experience while making a genuine impact.

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and styles.
  • Support students with behavioural challenges, promoting positive strategies for self-regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers to modify resources and ensure full engagement in lessons.
  • Track and report student progress, sharing insights with teachers and the SENDCO.
  • Promote an inclusive, positive environment that encourages learning and personal growth.

Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in education, youth work, or care settings.

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach and a genuine passion for supporting SEND students.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to helping students succeed in an inclusive environment.
