Our salaried two-year teacher training programme offers a unique pathway into teaching. You'll spend your first year developing practical classroom experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant before progressing to Initial Teacher Training (ITT), where you'll gain your PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The Programme
Year 1 – Build Your Experience
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll become a valued member of the school team, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.
You'll learn how to:
- Support pupils to achieve their individual learning goals.
- Adapt teaching and learning activities to meet diverse needs.
- Promote communication, independence and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families.
- Develop the confidence and practical skills needed to begin teacher training.
Throughout the year you'll receive ongoing mentoring, regular training and continuous professional development.
Year 2 – Achieve Your Teaching Qualification
Successful candidates will progress onto a fully supported Initial Teacher Training programme, where you will:
- Work towards your PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Learn to plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons.
- Receive expert coaching from experienced teachers and mentors.
- Graduate ready to begin your career as a qualified SEND teacher.

About You
We're looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and committed individuals who are passionate about inclusive education.
You'll ideally have:
- A degree (or be due to graduate before the programme begins).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, resilience and a willingness to learn.
- Experience working with children or young people is an advantage but not essential.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
