SEN Teaching Assistant (Afternoons Only)
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Hours: 5 afternoons per week (term time only)
We are looking to appoint a caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This part‑time, afternoons‑only role supports two children in a Year 6 class, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will provide tailored support that enables both pupils to participate fully in school life and make progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and targeted support for two pupils with Special Educational Needs in a Year 6 classroom.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and remain engaged in learning.
- Assist with implementing individual support plans and agreed strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Liaise effectively with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other professionals.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Successful Candidate
- Have experience working with children, preferably those with Special Educational Needs.
- Be patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Have good communication and teamwork skills.
- Be reliable, adaptable, and able to work on their own initiative.
- Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A teaching assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
