The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 4-19 years old with a primary diagnosis of autism (ASD) and speech, language and communication needs.

This is a specialist educational setting in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, dedicated to supporting children and young people aged 4–19. The school provides a personalised, inclusive curriculum that combines academic learning with life skills, vocational opportunities, and community engagement.

With small class sizes, tailored support, and modern facilities, their main aims are to empower every pupil to lead safe, happy, and independent lives while fostering respect, trust, and positivity.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • SEND (particularly ASD) experience
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • An innovative, resilient and patient educator with a compassionate approach to supporting children
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
