We are working with a large, well established specialist SEND school in Rochdale, catering for learners aged 11–19. The school has a capacity of 360 students and currently supports around 344 learners, making it one of the largest SEND provisions of its kind in the region.

The environment is known for its inclusive ethos and strong commitment to supporting students with a wide range of additional needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

• Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)

• SEMH needs

• Moderate, Severe & Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD, SLD, PMLD)

• Visual, Hearing & Multi Sensory Impairments

• Physical Disabilities

The school operates across multiple local sites, including a sixth form satellite location, an enterprise and learning campus in Middleton, and specialist hubs situated within mainstream academies. It also provides community based internship opportunities with partners such as a local football club and the NHS.

The Role

We are seeking caring, resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistants to join this inspiring SEND community.

You will support learners in developing communication, independence and social skills, while helping them access a personalised and immersive curriculum designed to meet diverse needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils with a wide range of SEND needs

• Assisting in the delivery of adapted and sensory-based learning activities

• Encouraging pupils to work towards the school’s core values of Connection, Communication, Independence, and Aspiration

• Promoting a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment where all students feel valued and understood

• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral teams, and wider multi agency professionals
