Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to work in supportive and inclusive schools across Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children with additional needs, with opportunities available for an immediate start or from September 2026. We are looking for patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individuals who can provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs
- Supporting children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
- Supporting pupils’ academic, emotional, and social development
- Helping to manage behaviour positively and consistently
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external professionals where required
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either within schools or relevant settings
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A flexible and proactive attitude to supporting learning
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications (Level 2/3) or transferable experience within care, youth work, or support settings are desirable.
