Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN learning support assistant to join one of our supportive specialist schools in Stockton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs such as ASD, SEMH, ADHD and communication differences
- Providing 1:1 support and facilitating small-group intervention sessions
- Assisting the class teacher with adapted learning tasks and personalised support strategies
- Encouraging independence, resilience and positive behaviour
- Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment
- Helping pupils develop social interaction, communication and emotional regulation skills
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff to deliver personalised learning plans
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or behavioural needs
- A patient, calm and resilient approach to behaviour and communication
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow guidance from teachers and external professionals
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs
- Confidence supporting learning inside and outside the classroom
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
