Learning Support Assistant β (SEN School)

Pay Rate: Β£13.75 per hour
Contract: Term Time Only
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs? Teaching Personnel is looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Southampton. In this role, you\βll support pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, and medical conditions.
This term-time position is perfect for those wanting to contribute meaningfully within an educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group support to pupils in the classroom
- Support communication strategies, including PECS and Makaton, as well as sensory approaches
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support teams to deliver individual education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment promoting emotional and academic growth
- Help deliver tailored learning activities and therapeutic interventions
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable
- Confidence or willingness to be trained in personal care and physical support
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude in supporting complex needs
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
