Location: PR6 area

Position Type: Full‑time / Part‑time (flexible options available)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to work within schools across the PR6 area. This role is ideal for someone with Team Teach training who is confident supporting pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs. You will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to provide targeted support, helping students engage with their learning and develop positive behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Implement behaviour plans and support strategies
  • Promote emotional wellbeing and positive social development
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and incidents

Qualifications

  • Valid Team Teach training (essential)
  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experience in a school or alternative provision setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work
