Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor for a specialist secondary setting in the Trafford area, supporting students aged 11-16 with a range of SEMH needs, including ASC, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours, emotional regulation needs, low self-esteem, and challenging behaviour.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils who have struggled in mainstream education, with a strong focus on wellbeing, personal development, and positive relationships. With small class sizes, excellent staff support, and a child-centred approach, the school offers an engaging and rewarding opportunity for educators looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
The Role
As a Behaviour & Resilience Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support students both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
- Implement behaviour support strategies and intervention plans
- Support students during lessons to encourage engagement and achievement
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills
- Manage challenging behaviour using positive and restorative approaches
- Promote attendance, wellbeing, and personal development
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A calm, resilient, and patient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
- Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, support work, or similar settings
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential
