As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) focused Teaching Assistant you will play a key role in providing the best support possible to students aged 11-16 years old. This is an Alternative Provision setting for pupils unable to access mainstream education due to needs and diagnoses of the following:

  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Anxiety and behavioural challenges
  • Communication and social interaction difficulties

Often pupils have experienced disrupted education and require extensive support.

Learning Environment

  • Small, nurturing classes designed for emotional regulation
  • Calm spaces for therapeutic interventions

Curriculum

  • Core subjects (English, Maths, Science)
  • Personal development and life skills
  • Vocational and enrichment activities to build confidence and resilience

Who We Are Looking For

  • SEMH experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of challenging behaviours
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
