Teaching Personnel is recruiting Youth Support Workers to support pupils in primary and secondary SEMH schools across Salford from September.
Students may have a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, and behaviours that challenge.
Your role will be to provide positive support, build strong relationships, and help pupils engage with education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
- Encourage emotional, social, and academic development.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
- Act as a positive role model within the school environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young people.
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, residential care, mentoring, support work, or education are highly desirable.
