Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEMH Support Mentor to join a specialist setting in Salford this September.
You will support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, and behavioural challenges that can impact both learning and daily school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, positive relationships with students.
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring and support.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Encourage engagement in lessons and school activities.
- Deliver targeted interventions and support plans.
- Promote confidence, resilience, and social skills.
- Assist with de-escalation and restorative approaches when required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and families.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, wellbeing, and behaviour.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in mentoring, youth work, education, support work, care, or behavioural support.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
- Ability to set clear boundaries while remaining empathetic and supportive.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
