Are you passionate about supporting young people who need it most? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a specialised educational setting in Salford. This provision caters for students aged approximately 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often alongside additional challenges such as ADHD, autism, and behavioural difficulties. The setting offers a nurturing, structured environment focused on helping students re‑engage with learning and develop essential life skills.
The Role
You will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a student who requires tailored support to manage their emotions, behaviour, and learning. This is a rewarding role where building trust and consistency is key. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing individualised support to help the pupil access learning
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
- Encouraging personal development, confidence, and engagement
- Implementing behaviour plans and adapting approaches when needed
