Are you an ambitious and academically focused Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in Upper Key Stage 2?
A welcoming and supportive primary school in Preston is seeking a Level 3 Academic Support Assistant to work within a Year 6 classroom, supporting pupils as they prepare for SATs and the transition to secondary school. This is a rewarding role that reflects the additional academic responsibility attached to supporting pupils at such an important stage of their education.
The Role
Working alongside an experienced Year 6 teacher, you will play a key role in raising attainment and supporting pupil progress across the curriculum. You will be responsible for delivering targeted Maths and English interventions, working with small groups of pupils to consolidate learning, address misconceptions and close gaps in attainment.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting academic progress, adapting intervention activities where required, and encouraging children to develop independence, resilience and confidence in their learning.
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Have experience supporting or teaching pupils within Key Stage 2.
- Be confident delivering targeted Maths and English interventions.
- Have excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills.
- Be comfortable leading small-group learning sessions.
- Be academically minded and passionate about raising attainment.
- Have high expectations of pupils and a commitment to helping them achieve their full potential.
- Be proactive, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Bring enthusiasm, positivity and a good sense of humour to the role.
