Are you committed to supporting children and young people with special educational needs? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Ringwood and make a meaningful impact every day!
The Role
You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 5-19 years old, with various complex needs such as:
- Autism and communication difficulties
- Severe, complex, and moderate learning difficulties
- Challenging behaviour
This school has an individualised, flexible Steiner-inspired curriculum focused on functional independence within a community setting. Facilities include a large hall, gymnasium, heated indoor pool, therapy centre, outdoor classroom, organic garden, and sensory areas, all supporting experiential learning and wellbeing!
Who We Are Looking For
- SEND experience in or out of an educational setting
- Excellent communication skills
- A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting children
- Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
- Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
