We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Business Studies Teacher to join our educational institution in Reading, Berkshire. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching to students, fostering a supportive and effective learning environment that encourages academic success and personal development.
Job Duties
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective Business Studies lessons in accordance with the curriculum and examination board requirements.
- Assess and monitor students’ progress through marking, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records.
- Develop teaching materials and resources that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Support students’ academic and personal development by offering guidance and encouragement.
- Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practises.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including coursework and controlled assessments.
- Engage with parents or guardians to communicate student progress and address any concerns.
- Keep up to date with developments in Business Studies and educational best practise through continuous professional development.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related subject.
Education
- Strong academic background in Business Studies or related discipline at degree level or higher.
- Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to secondary education and Business Studies.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching Business Studies at secondary or further education level.
- Experience in preparing students for GCSE, A-level, or equivalent examinations is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students of varying abilities.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Business Studies curriculum and current examination specifications.
- Strong subject knowledge in areas such as marketing, finance, business operations, and economics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
- Effective organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and manage time efficiently.
- Proficiency in utilising educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
- Ability to assess student work accurately and provide constructive feedback.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to student welfare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Further qualifications or training in education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
- Experience in delivering vocational Business qualifications or BTEC courses.
- Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Additional skills in related subjects such as Economics, Accounting, or Enterprise.
Working Conditions
- The role is based within a classroom setting in an educational institution located in Reading, Berkshire.
- Full-time working hours, typically during standard school hours with occasional additional hours for meetings, preparation, and events.
