A welcoming and supportive primary school near Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teacher to join their team after the May half-term, with the position running through to the Christmas break. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on full classroom responsibilities within a KS1 setting, delivering engaging and high-quality teaching during an important stage in pupils’ development. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports all learners, encouraging both academic progress and personal growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum
  • Assess, track, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Differentiating learning to support a range of abilities, including pupils with SEND and EAL
  • Deliver effective phonics teaching in line with school schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc or similar)
  • Mark and provide constructive feedback in accordance with school policies
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting positive attitudes to learning
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to maximise pupil outcomes
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to wider school life
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote pupil wellbeing at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1
  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and phonics delivery
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience preparing pupils for KS1 assessments (including SATs where applicable)
  • Familiarity with a range of phonics schemes
  • Experience working within a collaborative school environment
