We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Additional Needs Assistant to join a supportive SEN primary school in the Tameside area, with a September start and potential for an earlier start for the right candidate.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist setting that prioritises inclusion, wellbeing, and personalised learning. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs and moderate to complex learning difficulties. Pupils are supported not only academically, but also in their social, emotional and personal development.
You will be joining a welcoming and experienced team of teachers, SEN specialists, and support staff who work collaboratively to create a structured and nurturing environment. The leadership team is highly supportive and committed to staff development, making this an ideal opportunity for both experienced SEN staff and those with transferable skills from care, youth work or support roles.
The school offers excellent, purpose-built facilities including sensory rooms, breakout spaces, outdoor learning areas and well-equipped classrooms designed to support engagement and emotional regulation. Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Support children with autism, ADHD, and additional needs
- Assist with EHCP targets and personalised support plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Use visual aids and structured routines to support learning
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
As an Additional Needs Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and develop key life skills. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure each child receives the support they need.
