About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in a Secondary School in the Pontypool area. In this role, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring pupils stay on task and engaged with the work provided. Subject expertise isnât essentialâwhat matters is confidence, adaptability, and the ability to create a positive learning environment. The school is recognised for its positive, supportive learning environment. Staff build strong relationships, maintain clear routines, and create calm, safe classrooms where students thrive. Key Responsibilities
- Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Supporting pupils with their learning and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Providing feedback to teaching staff at the end of the day
- Ability to drive and access to a vehicle (due to school location)
- Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged pupils
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- EWC (or willingness to obtain one)
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people
- Welsh language skills (spoken Welsh is highly desirable)
- Experience working with young people (education, youth work, coaching, etc.)
- An aspiration to train as a teacher or work in education long-term
