We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the learning, confidence and wellbeing of pupils who require additional support.

The Role

  • You will work closely with teachers, the ALNCo and other professionals to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Learning and developmental delays
  • Support may be delivered on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the mainstream classroom.
  • Key Responsibilities

    • Provide tailored support to pupils with ALN, helping them to access learning
    • Assist in implementing Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
    • Support behaviour, emotional regulation and social development
    • Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
    • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists
    • Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

    We Are Looking For Someone Who:

    • Has experience supporting children with additional learning needs (desirable)
    • Is patient, calm and compassionate
    • Has good communication and teamwork skills
    • Can build positive relationships with pupils
    • Is adaptable, proactive and reliable
    • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS check
