- We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate
- Pastoral Support Worker to join specialist
SEN/SEMH schools in Chorley from September 2026.
This rewarding position offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and associated behavioural challenges.
As a key member of the pastoral team, you will play an integral role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, improve emotional wellbeing, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent role model.
- Provide emotional, behavioural, and pastoral support to students on a one-to-one and small group basis.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management and individual support plans.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet students' needs.
- Assist students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, confidence, and social skills.
- Support pupils during periods of dysregulation and help de-escalate challenging situations.
- Encourage attendance, engagement, and participation in school life.
- Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and support provided.
- Promote safeguarding and contribute to a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, residential care, or similar settings.
- Experience supporting individuals with SEN and/or SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A genuine passion for making a positive difference to the lives of young people.
