Teaching Personnel are recruiting graduates for a Graduate Teaching Internship starting this September in secondary schools across Oldham. This is a paid, full-time, term-time role for graduates who are considering a career in secondary teaching but would like to gain meaningful classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or school-based teacher training route. The internship runs for the academic year and provides a realistic, supported introduction to working in schools.

You will be placed in one Oldham secondary school for the duration of the placement, working closely with experienced teaching staff. The role is designed to help you build classroom confidence, develop behaviour management skills and gain a clear understanding of the day-to-day demands of teaching. Many graduates who complete this internship progress into teacher training the following year.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Supervising classes during short-term teacher absence using pre-set work
  • Working with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Developing confidence managing classrooms and pupil behaviour
