- Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, organised and reliable
SEN Cover Supervisor to support secondary and specialist schools across Oldham.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous classroom-based experience who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
As a SEN Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.
You will support pupils with a range of additional needs while maintaining a structured, positive and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will have prior experience working in a school or classroom setting and be confident leading groups of students independently.
- Supervise whole classes and deliver pre-set lessons across a range of subjects
- Support students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs and learning difficulties
- Maintain classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Promote a calm, safe and productive learning environment
- Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies when required
- Encourage student engagement and participation throughout lessons
- Take registers and follow safeguarding procedures at all times
- Work closely with teaching staff and provide feedback following lessons
- Support individual students and small groups where necessary
- Previous experience working in a school or classroom setting is essential
- Experience supporting secondary-aged students
- Background as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Cover Supervisor or similar school-based role
- Experience supporting students with SEN is desirable
- Confidence managing groups and leading classes independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Resilient, adaptable and able to think on your feet
- Professional, reliable and committed to a full-time role
- Previous Cover Supervisor experience
- Experience within specialist provisions or alternative provisions
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within education
