Teaching Personnel is recruiting caring and committed SEND Learning Support Assistants to work closely with individual pupils in supportive schools across Okehampton and the surrounding areas. Role details:

  • Pay Rate: £90–£100 per day
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs throughout the school day
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and learning style
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
  • Promote independence, engagement, and confidence in learning
  • Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff to ensure consistent support

WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Transferable experience (e.g. care, youth work, psychology, mentoring, family SEND experience)
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine desire to support pupils and develop within education
