Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming secondary partner schools in Blackwood from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for mathematics and education who wants to make a real difference to pupils requiring additional support with numeracy. The successful candidate will deliver targeted maths interventions to small groups of students, helping to build confidence, improve attainment and encourage a positive attitude towards learning.
Whether you have previous school experience or are looking to begin a career in education, this role offers valuable classroom experience within a supportive and well-established secondary school.
The Role
- Deliver targeted numeracy interventions to small groups of 3–4 pupils.
- Support students who require additional help with mathematics.
- Build pupils' confidence, engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Work alongside teachers to monitor progress and adapt learning activities.
- Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
- Develop strong professional relationships with pupils, teachers and support staff.
- Follow all safeguarding and school policies at all times.

The Ideal Candidate
- Confident and competent in mathematics.
- Patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people succeed.

- Previous experience supporting children or young people, particularly those with additional learning needs (ALN/SEN), is beneficial but not essential.
- We also welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, coaching, mentoring, care or community support roles.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register.
- Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
