Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a number of our specialist education clients in the Nuneaton (CV10) area.

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), and Processing or Learning Difficulties (LD). You will work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO to help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and build essential skills. This role is key to creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels encouraged, valued, and equipped to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised one‑to‑one and small‑group support that meets each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Adapt resources, activities, and learning materials to ensure they are accessible, engaging, and appropriately differentiated.
  • Follow strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans to help pupils make steady, meaningful progress.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behaviour using positive, proactive approaches.
  • Use a range of specialist tools and techniques, including visual supports, sensory resources, and alternative communication systems.
  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, sharing key insights with teachers and the SENCO to guide future planning.
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes learning and wellbeing.
  • Provide support during transitions, break times, and off‑site activities to ensure pupils’ safety and consistent care.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence, celebrating achievements and helping pupils build strong self‑esteem.
