About the Role

We are looking to appoint a Year 2 Teacher to join a primary school in the NG2 area of Nottingham. The role will involve teaching a Key Stage 1 class as pupils prepare for the transition into Key Stage 2. You will be responsible for delivering the Year 2 curriculum, with a particular focus on building confidence in reading, writing and maths ahead of SATs assessments later in the year.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with the KS1 curriculum
  • Support pupils in preparing for end-of-Key Stage assessments
  • Develop phonics, reading comprehension and numeracy skills
  • Create a calm and consistent classroom environment
  • Assess, track and report on pupil progress
  • Work with teaching assistants to support learning in class
  • Communicate with parents and carers when needed
  • Contribute to year group planning and wider school activities

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience preferred)
  • Good understanding of phonics and early literacy strategies
