Our two-year Salaried Teacher Training Programme in Nottingham gives you the opportunity to earn while gaining valuable school experience and working towards becoming a qualified teacher. Rather than going straight into teacher training, you'll spend your first year working as a Cover Supervisor. This gives you the opportunity to experience life in a classroom, develop your confidence and build essential behaviour-management skills before progressing to formal teacher training.

Your Two-Year Journey

Year 1 | Experience School Life

You'll join the school as a Cover Supervisor, giving you the chance to discover what it really means to work in education. You'll:

  • Supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared lessons.
  • Support pupils with their learning and encourage positive engagement.
  • Develop effective classroom management techniques.
  • Build relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Gain an understanding of school policies, routines and expectations.
  • Work alongside experienced teachers and support staff.
  • Develop the confidence and skills needed to progress into teacher training.

This first year is designed to help you experience teaching before committing to formal teacher training.

Year 2 | Train to Become a Teacher

Having gained valuable classroom experience, you'll progress into a trainee teacher role and begin your formal teacher training. You'll:

  • Plan and deliver your own lessons.
  • Develop your teaching style and classroom practice.
  • Assess pupil progress and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Work closely with an experienced mentor.
  • Complete your PGCE.
  • Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Prepare for your first position as a fully qualified teacher.
