We are looking to appoint a motivated, organised, and enthusiastic Science Technician to support a busy and successful Science Department within a secondary school setting. This role is central to the delivery of engaging practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring laboratories are well-resourced, safe, and efficiently run. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to play an important role in supporting students' learning.
Salary: £110pd - £130pd
Contract: Term Time Only (38 weeks per year)
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for science lessons
- Provide practical support during lessons when required
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring resources are clean, organised, and safe to use
- Monitor and manage stock levels, including the safe storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance
- Support the development of practical experiments and demonstrations
- Assist with administrative tasks within the Science Department
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Is well organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Has strong practical skills and an interest in science
- Communicates effectively with both staff and students
- Has an understanding of laboratory health and safety, or a willingness to learn
- Can manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced school environment
Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable but not essential. Training, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance, will be provided for the right candidate.
