SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant – Aycliffe

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Nurture Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Aycliffe. This role involves working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those requiring additional emotional, social, and behavioural support within a nurture provision.

You will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn by providing consistent support and building positive relationships.

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal development, social skills, and independence
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals where required

Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent are desirable
