Location: Newport, South Wales

Pay Rate: £92.63 Daily rate

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Contract: September Start – End of Academic Year (Immediate start for the right applicant)

Join us as a Youth Support Worker in one of our Secondary Schools! As a Youth Support Officer, you’ll be working with young people in secondary schools across the Newport area, helping them thrive both academically and personally. Pupils may have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or simply require extra support to thrive in the classroom. Your role is to build strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and communicating effectively to help them feel understood and supported.

You will be able to provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of ALN and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with students offering consistent emotional and academic support throughout the school day. This opportunity is very exciting as it will not only give you the opportunity to work with these incredible young people but will also enhance your knowledge and understanding for your future in Education as a whole.

What we are looking for

Because you’ll be supporting young people, we’re ideally looking for applicants with some relevant experience. This could be in areas like sports coaching, babysitting, care work, or youth support. However, if you have other transferable skills and can demonstrate these at interview, we’d love to hear from you!

Educator Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will also require the following or already hold & willing to apply for:
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
  • Aged 18 and over
  • Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of your onboarding with us
  • A Minimum of 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period of employment (or equivalent)
