About the Role
We’re looking for a School Youth Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school, supporting students aged 11-18. You’ll play a vital role in helping students feel safe, understood, and ready to engage in learning - working closely with teaching and pastoral teams to create a positive and inclusive school environment. You’ll be working alongside the school’s Specialist Resource Base (SRB), supporting students with additional learning needs through a mix of mainstream access and specialist provision. Support is personalised and rooted in person‑centred practice, focusing on identifying barriers and helping students thrive both academically and emotionally.
The SRB supports learners with a wide range of needs, including:
- Severe learning difficulties
- Speech, language and communication needs
- Physical or medical needs

- Have experience in youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles
- Are confident supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs

- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Two professional references covering 24 months
You must be 18 years or older.
