Teaching Personnel are recruiting a resilient and confident ALN/SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Learning Resource Base (LRB) in a primary school setting. This role is suited to someone who is emotionally strong, calm under pressure, and comfortable supporting pupils with very challenging behaviour and complex additional needs. This is a highly rewarding role, but it does require patience, consistency and a strong understanding of behaviour support.

About the Role

  • Support pupils within a specialist LRB environment
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who present with complex ALN/SEN
  • Support children with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLD and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Use consistent behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Support pupils during moments of dysregulation, distress or challenging behaviour
  • Help pupils access learning through adapted, specialist approaches
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staff
  • Maintain clear boundaries while providing a calm, nurturing presence

The Ideal Candidate

  • Emotionally resilient and confident in challenging environments
  • Experience working with ALN/SEN, SEMH or behaviour support (schools, LRBs, care, youth work or similar)
  • Calm, patient and able to remain composed under pressure
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Able to build trust with pupils who struggle with regulation and engagement
  • Willing to follow behaviour plans and specialist strategies consistently
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
