About the Role

We are seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our dynamic secondary school team. This role is ideal for individuals interested in gaining experience in education or those considering a future in teaching. As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged in pre-set work and maintain a positive learning environment. Having subject expertise is an advantage, as it enables you to cover topics you are genuinely passionate about. What matters most is confidence, adaptability, and the ability to create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across a range of subjects using pre-prepared lesson materials
  • Ensure students stay on task and complete assigned work
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Support pupils with their learning and maintain a positive classroom environment
  • Apply behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of the day

The ideal candidate will also require the following or already hold & willing to apply for:

  • Experience working with young people (education, youth work, coaching, etc.) or experience managing/leading groups
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • EWC Registration (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent organisational and behaviour management skills
  • Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of your onboarding with us
  • A Minimum of 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period of employment (or equivalent)
