Make a Real Impact in SEN Education! Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient and dedicated SEN Learning Support to join a specialist day school in Newport, supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with Autism and associated learning difficulties. This is a rewarding, hands-on role providing 1:1 or group support to pupils, helping them develop academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally.

The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and confident in building positive relationships. You should be able to stay calm under pressure and use effective strategies to manage challenging situations. Flexibility is essential, as you will be working with pupils across a wide range of ages and abilities. Your resilience and positive approach will help create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or individuals with SEN or challenging behaviours is desirable.
  • Experience in care, education, coaching or youth-support settings is a bonus, but not essential—candidates must be able to demonstrate strong transferable skills at interview.
  • Ability to provide consistent 1:1 and small group support.
  • Effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering engagement, confidence, and emotional development.
  • Willingness to assist with mobility and sensory needs.

Requirements (or willingness to obtain at own cost)

  • Must be 18 or over.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service.
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training.
  • Two professional references covering 24 months of employment.
