Science Technician Role- Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne Contract: Long-Term Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-resourced and supportive secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for science who enjoys working in an educational environment and wants to play a key role within a busy Science department. This role would be great for: Science graduates considering a future career in education Individuals with laboratory experience looking to work within a school setting Professionals who enjoy practical science and organisation but do not wish to pursue teaching Key Responsibilities Prepare and set up equipment, resources, and materials for practical Science lessons Support the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the science preparation room remains organised and fully stocked Monitor and uphold health and safety procedures within the department Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records Safely store and dispose of chemicals and materials in accordance with COSHH regulations Provide practical support to teaching staff where required Requirements A degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related Science subject is desirable Previous laboratory experience or knowledge of scientific procedures Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail A proactive, methodical, and safety-focused approach to work Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one What Teaching Personnel Offers Competitive daily rates of pay Weekly PAYE payments with no umbrella deductions Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant Access to free CPD and professional development opportunities Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent positions within schools If you're looking to utilise your scientific knowledge in a rewarding school-based role, we'd love to hear from you!
