Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a secondary school to appoint a Science Technician to join their Science Department on a full-time basis from February Half Term. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised and proactive individual to support high-quality teaching and learning across the science curriculum. The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support for science lessons, ensuring laboratories are safe, well-prepared and fully resourced for practical activities.

The Role

  • Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for science lessons and practical experiments
  • Support teaching staff during practical sessions when required
  • Clear away equipment and ensure laboratories are left safe and tidy
  • Maintain science laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies and keep accurate inventories
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment
  • Follow health & safety regulations and support risk assessment procedures
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Maths
  • Is organised, reliable and able to manage their time effectively
  • Has strong attention to detail and a commitment to health & safety
  • Can work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with staff and students

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting
  • Relevant training or qualifications related to laboratory work or health & safety
