We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated
Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Newcastle from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or other education-related professions.
You will play a key role in supporting pupils' academic progress, confidence, and wellbeing while working alongside experienced teaching staff in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.
- Support students with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.
- Contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour and pupil engagement.
- Gain valuable hands-on experience within a school setting.
Qualifications
- A degree in any subject (Education-related degrees are advantageous but not essential).
- A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, proactive, and professional approach.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
